Mr. William J. Zappacosta, 75, passed away late Saturday evening on June 16, 2018 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center and went to be with the Lord on the 19th hole in Heaven. He was born on October 16, 1942 at Fairmont General Hospital to the late William and Anna Fucello Zappacosta.
After graduating from Fairmont Senior High School in 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until he was honorably discharged in 1966. Bill retired from the Veterans Administration in Clarksburg in 1995. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Green Hills Country Club. Bill was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years Frances A. Zappacosta and their daughters Anne Marie Zappacosta, M.D. of Barboursville and Christie Lee Zappacosta, CPA of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Robert Zappacosta and his sister Patricia A. Kidwiler.
The family would like to give a special thanks to James “Bub” Lucas for his friendship and support in caring for Bill.
Friends and family may visit the Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watson with Fr. Vincent Joseph as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Jane’s Memorial Cemetery in Taylor County.
Marion County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
