Louise Ridgely Larry, 95, Fairmont, WV died on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. She was born on September 9, 1921 in Oil City, PA daughter of the late John and Edythe Webber Ridgely.
Louise graduated from Bexley High School, in Columbus, Ohio in 1939. She attended Ohio State University for two years. She was employed by the First National Bank in Columbus in the travel department and was later promoted to assistant manager of the travel department. During the 1940’s and 50’s she arranged limousine services, cruises and special tours throughout Europe for the bank clients. She was later employed as a travel agent by Suburban Travel in Pittsburgh.
Louise was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Fairmont, WV and the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Fairmont Field Club and the Women’s Golf Association.
She was married to her husband, Joseph J. Larry in June 13, 1953 in Columbus, who preceded her, passing on January 21, 2017. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Arthur Ridgely “Jay” Larry and his wife Joy Kaye Lang and Jon Christopher “Chris” Larry and his wife Melissa Ann Larry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily Susan Larry and Matthew Ridgely Larry of Bridgeport, Stephanie Elizabeth Larry Smetanick and her husband Jonathan Andrew Smetanick of Freeport, PA and Trevor Christian Larry of New York City, NY and one great granddaughter Lyla Grace Smetanick. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Louise Reardon, Elizabeth Reardon Kiviat, Robert Reardon and John Holzinger.
She is preceded in death by two sisters; Edythe Willets Nute and Margaret Ridgely Bergenstjerna.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased there will be no viewing, and her body was cremated.
The Burial Rite of the Dead will be celebrated at the Christ Episcopal Church 405 Ninth Street, Fairmont on Saturday March 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with The Reverend Elizabeth Hadaway Officiating. Inurnment will follow alongside her husband at the Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Garden.
In Lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Christ Episcopal Church 405 Ninth St., Fairmont or the Marion County Human Society
