Geneva Ann Stevens, 96, of Fairmont passed away Thursday evening May 4, 2017 at Fairmont Health and Rehab. She was born on November 7, 1920 in Rachel (Downs) daughter of the late Felix and Josephine Sokolosky

In Geneva’s earlier years she had worked at Pollocks Store in Rachel.

She was a longtime member of the former All Saints Catholic Church in Barrackville where she was a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She graduated in 1940 from Farmington High School. In 1980 A. James Manchin awarded her West Virginia Ambassador of Good Will. She loved being a mother and grandmother and was called Aunt “G” by her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John E. and Linda Stevens of Wampum, Pennsylvania, and Herbert E. and Monica Stevens of Fairmont. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alyssa Stevens of Wampum, Pennsylvania, Tyler and wife Amanda Stevens of Fairmont and Laura Stevens of Fairmont. Geneva is also survived by nieces Alice Sherer and daughter Anna Marie of Fairmont and Kathy Sokolosky of Rachel, God Daughter Marlene Napalo, several nieces and nephews and caregivers Viola Hoit and Vicki Qualter. 

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband George M. Stevens in 1974, one sister Helen Vasicek and two brothers Johnny and Eddie Sokolosky.

Friends may call at the Ross Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8:00 P.M. and Monday from 9:00 till 11:00 A.M. Services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Deacon David Lester Officiating. Interment will follow at Barrackville Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Geneva to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church 407 Jackson St. Fairmont, WV 26554
